Christmas questions and snowy fun :D

I stole these questions from my Momma :D
I though I'd answer them whilst I wait for my snowy fun pictures to upload!!!

1.WRAPPING PAPER OR GIFT BAGS?
I much prefer wrapping paper, I think it looks soooo much nicer and is much more fun to open than bags. However, bags are easier and faster.

2.REAL TREE OR ARTIFICIAL?
Fake!!! I can't be bothered with real ones, I think we are still finding needles from the real one we had when I was seven!!!
We have a really awesome black one at home :D

3.WHEN DO YOU PUT UP THE TREE?
My mum doesn't like it up too early, and it does take up a lot of room, so it tends to go up mid December!! It doesn't feel christmassy until then anyway, so Im fine with that!

4.WHEN DO YOU TAKE THE TREE DOWN?
I don't, it's too sad :( means all the festive fun is over!!

5.FAVOURITE GIFT RECIEVED AS A CHILD?
Hmm, I'm not sure, there was too many :)

6.HARDEST PERSON TO BUY FOR?
My Dad, he NEVER gives me a clue what he wants. And all my Mum says, when i ask what she wants is "I don't want anything" which doesn't help either.

7.EASIEST PERSON TO BUY FOR?
My Baby sister Evie, but I always tend to get a bit carried away :D

8.MAIL OR EMAIL CHRISTMAS CARDS
I love getting christmas cards, but I'm much to lazy to send them myself!! I don't really think email cards are proper cards though!!!!

9.FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE
Most of them are too sad for me!! Especially the Snowman.
Carrie is always on the tele on Christmas eve, so I always watch that!

10.WHEN DO YOU START SHOPPING FOR CHRISTMAS?
Normally, about the 22nd or 23rd of December, I'm really not organised.

11.HAVE YOU EVER RECYCLED A CHRISTMAS PRESENT?
Yeah, and I steal stuff my Mum and sister don't want either too :)

12.FAVOURITE THING TO EAT AT CHRISTMAS?
German christmas biscuits all the way!!
I finally found some on Friday, thats when I know its christmas :)

13.LIGHTS ON THE TREE-COLOURED OR CLEAR?
I don't really care, as long as there are lots of them!!

14.FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
Wham, last christmas os by far the best christmas song EVER!!
But I love most, apart from recent ones or gimmicky ones!!!

15.TRAVEL AT CHRISTMAS OR STAY AT HOME?
Stay at home definately, I'm not sure it would feel like christmas if we went on holiday, we have lots of silly little christmas traditions I'd miss!!

16.ANGEL,STAR OR RIBBON ON TOP OF TREE?
I don't like ribbons! So I'd prefer a star or Angel.
Personally, I think they should just put a big picture of me up there :P

17.OPEN THE PRESENTS CHRISTMAS EVE OR MORNING?
My mum is sooo strict about christmas presents!!! I have to BEG to be allowed to open one on christmas eve, and she only occassionally relents!! And she makes us have breakfast before we can open them!!!!

18.MOST ANNOYING THING ABOUT THIS TIME OF YEAR?
The wait!!!!
I hate waiting for christmas day!!

19.WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR?
I really can't think of much I want this year, just bits and pieces! i really want the Stardust book by Neil Gaiman and the Proposal, but that is all I could think of! My mum always gets me great presents though :)

20.TRADITIONAL COLOURS (RED AND GREEN) OR OTHER COLOURS?
I much prefer bright colours, red and green is far too boring!!

Today, my friend Lynsey and I ventured out into the snow and had a great afternoon frolicking in it :)

we even went to the beach and paddled in the sea, which I was not exactly a pleasant experience!

Then we stumbled across a park, and spent a joyful hour swinging, climbing, slipping down a pole and being on a boat =D

I must go though, I have an entire flat to clean, all my packing to do and a mountain of essays to tackle, as well entertaining my two best friends, all before 7am!!
I'm not worried though :|

Oh, I almost forgot to add, I'M GOING HOME TOMORROW!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Brazilian prostitutes...

Are what I have been studying for the past week for my anthropology course, and for the first time this term, I am actually enjoying studying. However, the essay I am required to write on the topic is another matter entirely, and the reason why I am writing this blog post. Short of tidying my bedroom, I have literally procrasinated in every other conceviable way, including trekking to Tesco in arctic conditions (-9 degrees here tonight) and narrowly avoided slipping down a hill on my bum!!! However, it was an essential trip as I was in dire need of essay writing provisions, but my shreddies and red bull so far have not spurred me into action!!!

Once more, I must admit my life currently is rather dull :( I work a lot, which is still mind-numbingly boring, and I have soooo many essays to write! I am seriously counting down the days until I go home, (17 sleeps) to where I will have my mum looking after me and I can escape (if only for a while) the guilt I feel every single time I do something non-university related!!

Aberdeen has been horrid recently, we have been experiencing awful weather :( I do not mind the snow too much, though I could live without out, but every single time I step out of the house (honestly, no exaggeration) it either rains, hails or thunders on me!!! And we have not even had nice snow, it is all sludgy and muddy :(

I went to the cinema last night with Carl, to see Skyline. It was crap, not worth a review on my film blog. It had shoddy acting and the script was basic and largely predictable. It also had a confusing ending, which Carl had to explain to me! I would definately not recommend this film.
However, last week, we saw Harry Potter, and anybody who knows me, is I'm sure aware that I am not in the slightest a Harry Potter fan. But I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this film, even if it did make me cry.

I'm getting extremely excited about my advent swap parcel :) Can not wait to open them! I am going to try to save each present to the end of the day, to cheer me up after a rubbish day at work or uni! However, I feel just managing to limit myself to one a day will be an achievement!!

I should go now, and actually start writing my essay. Though I'll probably finish watching sign-language Jeremy Kyle first, it is educational after all!!

Hello Bloggettes :)

I've been meaning to post on here for ages, but never seem to find the time! And I'm not sure just how interested people are in my, currently rather mundane, life! But since its three in the morning and I can not sleep, I thought I'd return to my neglected blog :D

So much has happened since I last blogged, I'm now back in Aberdeen, which is quite awesome! I've got a lovely flat, and I decorated my room pink and blue :) I have just started my new job, working in the HR department in M&S, as part of the management team, and as of 2 days in, is the most boring job EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the plus side however, by comparision, it makes my dire anthropology courses appear all of a sudden fascinating!!

It's great being back with my friends :) Missed them all hugely over the summer!! Though we seem to have gone rather boring and rarely go out now, opting instead to stay in! I blame the vicious Aberdonian weather!! (we've already been subjected to snow!!!) Every Friday, Carl and I have themed movie night! So far we have had 80's, Vampires and Superman. Tomorrow is Indiana Jones night, which I am very excited about. It does mean though however, that I have to tidy my room!!!

All snuggled up watching Star Trek at Carl's!

My Sister Mica came to stay with me a few weeks ago, whcih was awesome!! But instead of taking the opportunity to show off my culinary talents, I instead spent ALL of my money taking her to restaurants! In fact, the one time I did cook, it was curly fries :)

My first attempt at pumpkin carving was a success, even if I do say so myself :)

Playing our new favourite game, "Photos in the dark!"

I'm much too tired to write anymore, but (once more) I promise not to neglect this blog, or my other again. In fact, I may snuggle in bed to watch a film so I can review it tomorrow!!
Night Night :) Xxxxxxxx

Why I hate people!!

Hello Bloggers, (so bascially, Hi Momma :D)
I do apologise for not having blogged in a while, I've been most preoccupied with my new job!! I am now part of the three store family! So basically I spend my days conning people in to buying over-priced crappy phones which they do not need or most of the time actually want!! But, even if I say so myself, I'm pretty darn good at it, and make a good deal of money through commission (though what this says about my character is a bit dubious, I (sometimes) feel bad about talking people in to contracts. but mostly I just want to go on holiday in October, so need my commission!!)

Despite the money, there are numerous downsides to working in a mobile phone shop, the most obvious being that mine is located in Barnsley, so the majority of my customers are the typical Barnsley folk, who generally I don't mind, as long as they don't talk to me!!! They are chavvy and often accompanied by bratty children, who throw their sausage rolls on the floor, making the carpet greasy and squirt us with their gator-ade, whilst the parents argue over whose turn it is to cook tea, trying to draw me in to the argument, when all I actually want to do is slap them with my demo phone, especially as they took my precious iPhone 4 off me and replaced it with an iPhone 3G, which, as everyone knows, is soooo last June!!! Oh, and in case you were wondering, as a compromise, the arguing chavvy couple settled on a Greggs for tea!!

Now, as I was saying, I don't mind most people, as long as they do not try to converse with me, but, as irritating and inconvenient as it may be, I do have to engage in conversation with people to sell them phones! And most people are incapable of speaking correctly!! Seriously, they are not able to utter a single complete sentance without at least twelve stupid, lazy and ignorant mistakes, all of which make me want to kick them in the shins and shout "learn to speak English, you utter MORON!" Unfortunately, I would be fired, so I refrain from doing so, as hard as it may be sometimes!!! If I'm in a extremely bad mood however, and my manager is not hovering near me, I will often pretend to not have a clue as to what they saying, understanding only when they repeated themselves several times and grown quite irate!! (My job really is that boring!!)

Not only can they not speak English, they often struggle to understand it, which is most aggitating, as I speak English beautifully, (I'm too annoyed to be modest!!) so they have no excuse not to understand, they are just stupid!! They ask the mpst ridiculous of questions, and since I don't actually know anything about mobile phones, I make up a load of crap and they buy it, hahaha!!

I also get some really really rude customers, who seem to think they are better than me, as I am serving them in a shop!! I'm not sure what I get greater satisfaction from, the fact that their arrogance often earns me a lot in commission, or the look of shock when their application get declined!! In fact, I think I'd fore-go the money, for the delight of saying, in a voice dripping with sarcasm, "Oh, I'm so very sorry sir, you've been declined. And you were so sure you were going to pass. That is a shame."

For those who don't know me, I am actually a really nice person, I just have a horrid job. Everyday I have to deal with abuse from people, none of which is ever deserved, and I am expected to just take it. I don't, but I am expected to, with is most annoying! But I only have afew weeks left, and as I said before, its paying for me to go to Tunisia!! :D We do from time to time get a nice customer, and we rave about them for weeks on end, they are that rare!!

On a happier note, I have been making good progress with my embroidery, and its looking really awesome!! I'll post a picture tomorrow!! I'm in bed just now, listening to Mumford and Sons and about to watch House, so Night night Xxxx

I haven't really done anything at all this weekend, and certainly nothing of any interest, but I am determined not to fall out of the habit of blogging, so will write about my big weekend of nothingness!!

My lovely momma bought me the 9th book in the series of Southern Vampire Mysteries (True Blood) yesterday, and I read it all in one go. I didn't even clothe myself until after I had finished. It was superb!!! Really brilliant, but ... it has made me soooo desperate for the last one, but at the same time, I don't want to read the final one, because then it will be over. Whilst I love to read and read everyday, I rarely find a series of books that makes me anxious for the next (because I really am Mum, hint hint) so I am very pleased to have discovered them. I would really recommend them to anyone who hasn't read them, they are about vampires and other supernatural creatures, but in a completely new style and with a new twist. And there is welcome lack of emo-ness, which is typically associated with vampires.

I also yesterday spent sometime with my lovely little sister Evie, making hama bead photo frames. Check out the one she made me!

It says 'princess Kia' and 'I love Kia'!! It really is one of the best things she has ever made for me!!!
Here is one I made for Evie to put a picture of Coco the cat in.

I also spent a considerable amount of time this weekend talking to friends, especially Carl (my Husband) who always makes me laugh, whether he is aware of this or not!!! I would like to apologise to Carl though, as it is my fault he has been neglecting Wow recently, as I got him hooked on True blood! Just wait to read the books Carl, you won't play for weeks ;P

I also had a great catch up with one of my best friends last night, Cayely with a C!! She is Canadian and was only in Aberdeen for one term before she jetted back to Calgray!! It was really great to talk to her on Skype, and I think I have convinced her to come back to Scotland, though I need to go to Calgray first!!!!

oooh ohh I should also mention the new love of my life, Bastian Schweinsteiger! He is a German footballer and just has the coolest name ever!!! I have made it my lifes mission to become Mrs Schweinsteiger!!!

Anyway, laters!! Mum, I'm coming back down now and Carl, I will see you on Msn in just a short while!!! And feel better!!! :D

Catherine comes to town!!

The previous weekend had been most fantastic, as one of my best friends had come down from Aberdeen to visit for the weekend. She lives in Dubai so I was insistent she came to visit before she jetted off to the sun for the summer!

Now I have only known Catherine for about 2 months, but we have become ridiculously good friends in that short space of time. We should have met in Buddhism class but since one of us rarely turned up, despite fancying the lecturer (ahem, Catherine :P) it wasn't until we had a night of truth and dare and wine at a friends house that we met properly! Much wine fueled hilarity has ensued ever since.

Anyway, back to this weekend, we met up again on Friday (having to hunt each other down at Leeds train station) and went straight to the pub (I had coke) before shopping!! I got a LAdy Gaga inspired top which is most awesome!!

On Saturday night, we went to my Aunty's hen night, a night full of hilarity and drunken antics!! I made a fiver though (and I'm not telling you how, but it involved my bra ... :P) It was an ace night though!!

Sunday was a disappointment however, as England was knocked out of the world cup! Now whilst I am not an avid football follower (or actually a follower at all!!!) but i do follow England in the world cup and I really wanted us to win!! Not just because I am patriotic, but because I felt we really needed something of that magnitude to lift our spirits after the diabolical election results!!!!!!!! I really loved how much England got behind the team and supported them!! But I was most upset at the attitude of Scotland! Living in Aberdeen, I have many Scottish friends, but not a single one wanted England to win and all had the exact same ignorant reasons for not wanting them to do so!!!

I had to return to Aberdeen this week, to move into my new flat, and I am slightly more enthused about the new flat after inspecting my new wardrobe!!! It is sooo awesome!! It is huge!!! I know you are bored of hearing about it mumma, but it has a rack for shoes and handbags and TWO full length rails for clothes (i'm already excited at the prospect of buying new clothes to fill it up with) and the doors are mirrored!!!!!!!!

Check it!!! I know you are jealous!!!!!

I have just finished the first seven books in the Southern Vampire mystery series (which the tv show True Blood is set upon) and I am obsessed!! They are the sort of books which stop you from doing anything else they are that addictive!! They are really well written and just fantastic. I enjoy the show a lot too, but the book shave the added bonus of no a lot Bill Compton and no shoddy acting, as the the actor who plays Bill CAN NOT ACT!!!!! But I really love these books and the show and I am impatiently waiting for to get the last two books and for the next episode to be aired!!

Eric, a 1000 year old viking vampire is the best character, in both the books and t.v. show!!

Anyway, gonna watch my film now, so nighty night bloggers!! xxxxx

Guess who's back?

Back again. Kia's back, tell a friend!!!

Thats right people, I have returned to the blog world and I'm determined not to forget about it this time!!!

Such a lot has happened since I spoke to you last (well not really, as it is just you who reads this at the mo Mum, and since you have only been upstairs for a few minutes, technically nothing has happened, but I can pretend!) so I'm just going to pick some of the highlights!!

I came home over Easter, with my German husband in tow, and we spent an amazing week together taking in all the best sights Yorkshire has to offer and partying with my crazy family, who it must be said, frightened my friend slightly.

We went to York, where we seeked out these giant ice creams!! If my mind serves me correctly, I had tiramisu and cherry cheesecake flavour, it was most delicious.

We spent a great day in Whitby, going to the Abbey, looking at the ruins, climbing on the rocks on the beach, me terrorising Michael by going to the edge of the pier. Even the 8 hours of travelling couldn't ruin our great day!!
There were many parties, which involved much singstar and my new favourite Just dance for the Wii!! I rock at this game!!!

There was an amazing trip to Edinbrugh in May for my little sister's birthday. Among all the touristy fun activities we did;
we went to the dungeons, where Evie was most annoyed at beoing told she "mmmmm, snacksize".
I was most impressed to meet the most pierced woman in the world!!! And she was sooo nice, if a bit bossy!!

The rest of my time has just been filled with;

Cooking with friends, a great way to avoid revising!!

Getting dressed up to go out!!

Developing a love for sangria!! I have a Spanish friend who made this lethal drink for me!!! Fortunately I had a 9am start so was sensible, wish the same could be said for my friends :D

Wearing giant tracksuits, mainly because we could!!!

Throwing a prom, to say goodbye to each other and have one last party!! I was of course the prom queen!!!

There were soooo many other good times, but I don't have space or the patience to tell you anymore. And besides, mum, you know them all anyway!!

But I really want to regularly blog, as my best friends will not be coming back to Aberdeen next year, they are both leaving me to do erasmus years, and I think this will be the perfect way for them to keep in touch with my life!!

Laters Bloggers!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A caking lotta fun

I have just spent a pleasant two days doing one of my favourite things, baking, or caking in this case!

Yesterday started with (unfortunately) having to go to work and for once I spent my entire shift actually having to do work, though a fair amount of the time was also spent taking photos of the security guards (I'll explain later in the week) and bitching about the incompatance of my boss, who fortunately had the day off!

But after work was when the real fun started!! Me one of my best friends decided to dedicate an entire day to baking, and even braved the crazy unpredictable Aberdeen snow to get ingredients. We looked a bit demented wandering up and down Morrisons with our recipe books (too lazy to copy them out) searching for the ingredients and sulking when they didn't have all the bizzare things we required!

Not a pair to make things easy for ourselves, we decided to make 3 cakes; a Lemon loaf (which due to my inadaquetly stocked kitchen ended up a Lemon circle, but tastes sensational regardless!

We made the syrup ourselves also, we couldn't resist a quick cake-break before cracking on with the next cake which was a Raspberry Cheesecake Brownie, 3 layers of cakey goodness!! Unfortunately we didn't realise we had to leave this cake to set over night, so had to finish it off this morning, but it really was worth the wait!!

We also made some Strawberry and Cream cupcakes...

which were also delicious but for a while started to take over my flat, there was so many of them! We had to invite some people round to help us eat them all!

Most of today was spent with my friend setting up a joint blog to record all our baking and cooking (with lots of cake breaks of course!) We are both foodies and often cook for each other and thought it would be fun to record all the nice dishes we make! I also bullied her into starting her own blog!

For tea tonight we had the pink pasta, and despite looking like a plateful of worms, it was incredibly tasty!

Thank you Lynsey for a lovely weekend!!!

Eurghh, now I have to do some university readings for my nine o'clock class tomorrow! American Kinship, here I come! (Though I expect there will be several cake-breaks and possibly even a film break during this!)

Saturday 27 February 2010

And so royalty has entered the world of blogging!!!

I have finally started my blog, something which I have wanted to do for a while, so after much goading from my Mum and a night in which I was at loose end, I finally sat down and did it (whilst also making making a billion calls to Mum for help!)
I love to talk and I know that I can ramble on for hours about topics which to me seem massively interesting but bore others, such as my new favourite T.V. show, Indiana Jones, my new shoes/dress, work (especially my irritating boss, be prepared for a lot of moaning about him!!) or my Goldfish. So this blog will just be an extension of me boring the people I love, but at least this way they can read it at their leisure!! I am also a very irritable person, annoyed by most everything, so this blog will be used also to express my disgust and annoyance at all the things which I come across which aggravate me (which really is everything!!!) Anyway...

Today I spent an enjoyable day shopping with some of my collegues on one of my (very) few days off from work. The day involved spending my hard-earned and just recieved wage, cake-breaks and lots of boss-bitching!!
Amongst my purchases, there was...

A Mug Tree!!! I love cups, I collect one for all my favourite T.V. shows and now I have a pink tree upon which I can hang them!!

And...

Pink Pasta! I don't really have a reason for this, except that I like pasta and pink, so this seemed to be the perfect combination! It looks much more fun that the normal pasta-coloured pasta I normally eat.
And finally, saving the best for last, I got...

a pair of beautiful and ridiculously high heels!! Aren't they gorgeous? I can't wait to go out and risk breaking my ankle and/or neck in them!!!

Night night
